International Roadcheck 2024: May 14th-May 16th
Are you ready for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Road Check 2024? This year’s International Road Check is May 14th – 16th with an objective to ensure safety for drivers and travelers across all roadways.
International Roadcheck is the world’s largest targeted enforcement program focusing on commercial motor vehicles. During this 72-hour period, nearly 15 trucks or buses are inspected every minute across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This year, International Roadcheck will spotlight two primary focus areas:
- Alcohol and controlled substance possession
- Tractor protection systems
Focus: Alcohol & Controlled Substance Possession
Controlled substance and alcohol possession/use are growing concerns, with more prohibited drivers listed in the U.S. Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (DACH). This trend emphasizes the need for clear policies to prevent possession or use in the workplace. Motor carriers should regularly check the DACH to ensure their drivers are not prohibited. Drivers must adhere to their company’s policies and avoid alcohol or controlled substances while on duty.
Focus: Tractor Protection Systems
International Roadcheck also aims to raise awareness of tractor protection systems among drivers, carriers, technicians, and enforcement personnel. These vital components, like the tractor protection valve, trailer supply valve, and anti-bleed back valve, may be overlooked during inspections.
